क्या कभी सोचा है कि हमसे पहले इस दुनिया में आने और इसको छोड़कर जाने वाले लोगों के लिए जिंदगी कितनी मुश्किल रही है। हम सभी अपने इतिहास के किसी न किसी हिस्से को जानते हैं, लेकिन उसे गंभीरता से कम ही लेते हैं। और इतिहास से सीख लेने वाले उससे भी कम हैं।
लेकिन क्या कभी सोचा है कि इतिहास के पन्नों में दर्ज जिन लोगों के नाम आज और जिंदगी के किसी भी मोड़ पर हमने पढ़े हैं, वो कभी असली इंसान हुआ करते थे। जीते-जागते, सांस लेते, खुशी और गम को महसूस करते इंसान। जिनमें से कई का जीवन हम सभी से ज्यादा मुश्किलों से भरा था।
आज हम टेक्नोलॉजी की दुनिया में रह रहे हैं और हमारे लिये अपने फोन और कंप्यूटर से बाहर कोई जिंदगी है ही नहीं। जीवन के बारे में सोचना भी हमारे लिए मुश्किल है। लेकिन एक समय ऐसा भी था जब ये सबकुछ इंसान के पास नहीं था। तब वो असली दुनिया में रहता था, असली और तकलीफ भारी मुश्किलों का सामना करता था।
और इन दिक्कतों का निवारण भी उसे खुद ही सोचना और निकालना पड़ता था। तब लोग बेबस थे। खुद को और अपने अपनों को बचाने के लिए उनके पास जरिए बहुत कम थे और यही चीजें जब आज आप जानते हैं, तो सोचने पर मजबूर हो जाते हैं कि अगर हम उस सिचुएशन में होते तो क्या करते। ऐसी ही गहरी बातों को मिलाकर बनी है वरुण धवन और
जाह्नवी कपूर की फिल्म बवाल।
यह कहानी है अज्जु भैया उर्फ अजय दीक्षित (वरुण धवन) की जिसके लिए उसकी शान ही सबकुछ है। अज्जु भैया के खुद के शब्दों में कहूं तो वो पनीर में पड़ने वाला धनिया है, जिनके होने ना होने से किसी को फर्क नहीं पड़ता। लेकिन उन्होंने माहौल बनाते हुए अपनी इमेज को ऐसा बनाया है कि पूरे लखनऊ शहर में उनके ही चर्चे होते हैं। इसी इमेज के चलते बिना संकोच किए अज्जु भैया ‘पनीर’ लोगों के सामने सिर उठाकर और सीना चौड़ा कर चल पाते हैं। लेकिन कई लोगों की तरह इस झूठी शान और दिखावे वाली जिंदगी से अज्जु खुश नहीं है। ना तो उसे अपनी नौकरी से प्यार है और ना ही परिवार या पर्सनल लाइफ से। तभी तो काम के बाद वो अपने गमों को शराब के नशे में डुबाने दोस्त संग बार चला जाता है।
वरुण धवन और जाह्नवी कपूरअज्जु भैया के घर में हैं उनके पिता जी मिस्टर दीक्षित (मनोज पाहवा), उनकी मां मिसेज दीक्षित (अंजुमन सक्सेना) और उसकी बीवी निशा (जाह्नवी कपूर)। निशा और अजय की शादी को अभी 9 ही महीने हुए हैं, लेकिन उनके बीच प्यार बढ़ने की बजाए दूरियां ही आई हैं। दोनों एक दूसरे से प्यार तो दूर एक दूसरे के बारे में छोटी-बड़ी चीजें जानते भी नहीं हैं। दूसरी तरफ अजय की एक हरकत के चलते अब उसकी नौकरी पर बन आई है। इसी बीच अजय अपनी बीवी निशा को यूरोप की ट्रिप पर ले जाने का फैसला करता है। यहां से वो अपने स्कूल के बच्चों को वर्ल्ड वॉर 2 के बारे में शिक्षा देगा। लेकिन अज्जु भैया को नहीं पता कि ये ट्रिप उनकी जिंदगी बदल देगी।
वरुण धवन में बढ़िया एक्टिंग करने का पोटेंशियल है ये बात सभी लोग जानते हैं। इस फिल्म ने भी उन्होंने बढ़िया काम किया है। मस्तमौला और झूठी शान वाले अज्जु भैया से समझदार और सेंसीटिव अजय दीक्षित बनने की उनकी जर्नी देखने वाले को गर्व होगा। उन्होंने बढ़िया एक्टिंग के साथ अज्जु भैया के भूकम्प और डर को भी अच्छे से पोर्ट्रे किया है।
जाह्नवी कपूर भी इस फिल्म में अपने किरदार को निभाने में कामयाब रही हैं। उन्होंने निशा के भाव-भंगिमाओं को अच्छे से उतारा है। वो बेहद नाजुक हैं और फिर भी उनमें एक दिवा बहुत है। मनोज पाहवा जिन्हें आप रियल लाइफ में देखना चाहते हैं उन्होंने इस फिल्म में भी बढ़िया अभिनय किया है। उनके चेहरे पर उस मिडिल एज एजे के इंसान की ही छवि नजर आती है।
दर्शकों को फिल्म में इमोशनल ड्रामा और रोमांस से भरपूर देखने को मिलेगा। फिल्म की कहानी कुछ हटकर है जिससे दर्शकों को एक नई अनुभूति होगी। फिल्म की डायरेक्शन और कलाकारों की अभिनय की तारीफ किया जा सकता है। हालांकि, कहानी में कुछ खास नयापन न होने के कारण कुछ लोग इसे पूरी तरह से प्रशंसा नहीं कर सकते। फिल्म की लंबाई को कम करके और उसमें कुछ और दम डालकर फिल्म को और भी रुचिकर बनाया जा सकता था।

Have you ever thought about the struggles and hardships faced by people who came before us and those who will come after us in this world? We might know some fragments of history, but we often fail to fully grasp its gravity. Even those who have learned from history might have experienced fewer challenges than the people whose names we find written in its pages.
In the technologically advanced world we live in today, we are engrossed in our phones and computers, sometimes neglecting the real essence of life. However, there was a time when life was much more challenging, and individuals had to confront genuine hardships on their own.
"Bawaal" revolves around the life of Ajju Bhaiya, also known as Ajay Dikshit (Varun Dhawan). He lives a life where his image is everything. In his own words, he is like coriander in a dish of cottage cheese (paneer), not essential but adding flavor. He has created an image of himself that has made him the talk of the town in Lucknow. But beneath the facade, Ajju Bhaiya is not content with his job, family, or personal life. To escape his troubles, he seeks solace in alcohol, often frequenting bars with his friends.
The film also centers on Ajju's home, where his father, Mr. Dikshit (Manoj Pahwa), his mother, Mrs. Dikshit (Anjuman Saxena), and his wife Nisha (Janhvi Kapoor) reside. Ajju and Nisha's marriage, which is only nine months old, is already facing distance and issues. Their lack of communication and understanding is evident. Meanwhile, an incident at Ajju's workplace puts his job at risk, leading him to plan a trip to Europe with Nisha to educate his school children about World War II. However, little does Ajju know that this trip will change his life forever.
Varun Dhawan delivers a stellar performance, showcasing his potential as a versatile actor. His journey from the flamboyant and superficial Ajju Bhaiya to the sensible and sensitive Ajay Dikshit is captivating to watch. Janhvi Kapoor, too, has done justice to her character of Nisha Dikshit. Their on-screen chemistry is palpable. Manoj Pahwa and Anjuman Saxena shine in their respective roles, and the supporting actors add depth to the narrative.
Director Nitesh Tiwari has presented the film in a distinctive manner. He sensitively portrays the Second World War era, making viewers empathize with those who lived during that time.
